Eco Schools
Most young people care about environmental issues and want to make a positive change. The Eco-Schools programme provides the opportunity to foster environmental awareness while linking to many curriculum subjects. Eco-Schools aims to educate and empower young people to make positive decisions and become change makers for an environmentally sustainable world.
John Grant School has been involved with Eco Schools since 2018. It was the first Complex Needs School in Norfolk to be awarded the Green Flag and we are now going for our third Green Flag in summer 2025.
As learners work through the Seven Steps, they are able to pick several of the ten ECO topics to work on. All Eco-Schools topics help young people engage with environmental issues that are important to them and their local community
Over time and through commitment to the Eco-Schools Seven Step process, improvements have been made in both the learning outcomes, attitude, and behaviour of our learners and the local community. Evidence of the success in these areas has lead to our school being awarded on two occasions with the International Green Flag. Such an award is a recognised and respected eco-label for environmental education and performance.
